The District
Castaic Union School District is a suburban school district located in the Santa Clarita Valley, in the northern portion of Los Angeles County. Castaic serves just under 3,000 students in grades kindergarten through eight in four schools. Castaic students attend both West Ranch High School and Valencia High School in the William S. Hart Union High School District. The District employs 210 certificated, 152 classified, and 18 confidential/management personnel. The Board established the Castaic Education Foundation, which provides grants to teachers' selected projects that will enhance the District's education program.

Our Schools
Castaic Middle School opened in Fall 1996, Castaic Elementary School opened in Fall 1997, and Live Oak Elementary School opened in January 1989. Northlake Hills Elementary School opened in September 2003.

District Technology
Our schools offer state-of-the-art educational technology. Classrooms feature multi-media computers, VoIP Telephony, Internet access, live video broadcast capabilities, and a centralized media retrieval system. Our Middle School has a high-tech video lab, closed-circuit TV, with video conferencing capability. Our Elementary Schools have high-tech library/media centers and all schools have structured computer labs.

Our Community
The region, while primarily suburban in nature, has an active and thriving business component. It provides easy access to many educational and cultural advantages of the greater Los Angeles metropolitan areas. The vast offering of the magnificent Southland beaches, deserts, and mountain areas contribute to the attractiveness of the Castaic Union School District as a place to live and work. The Interstate-5 freeway is nearby.

Our Recreation & Points of Interest
We are located five minutes from Castaic Lake and 20 minutes from Piru and Pyramid Lakes for boating, fishing, and water skiing. Five minutes from Magic Mountain Amusement Park . Forty-five minutes from Ventura Beach . Twenty-five minutes from Burbank Airport , and 45 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport . Ninety minutes from ski resorts, 30 minutes from Dodger Stadium and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. For shopping, we have the new Valencia Town Center, a fully enclosed and air conditioned mall with over 100 retail stores, within 10 minutes of Castaic.
