I am excited to be the Principal of Live Oak Elementary School and welcome you to the new 2010-2011 school year! Live Oak is located at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains, surrounded by rolling hills, in the northern section of the Santa Clarita Valley. As part of the Castaic Union School District, the attendance area is large and encompasses 150 square miles.
Live Oak School serves a student population of 675 youngsters in grades kindergarten through 5th. Our school includes students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. Eighteen percent of our students are Limited English Proficient, and twenty-four percent receive free or reduced lunch.
There are 31 classes at Live Oak, K-3 with 22 or fewer students and 4 - 5 with up to 32. We strive to provide a learning environment that motivates each student to reach his or her maximum potential.
Live Oak is a school where parents and staff members have formed an alliance for children. Teachers are committed to educational excellence and work together in a cooperative, supportive and professional manner. Parents offer support and guidance to the school. They participate in goal development as well as serve on councils and committees.
Committed to all of our students, we continue to believe in our mission to provide opportunities for students to become life-long learners and contributing citizens in a changing world. Through collaboration, we work toward our common goal of developing productive students and innovations in curriculum and instruction.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cynthia Seamands
Principal
